This listing is for 10 vintage Cups & Saucers in the Passover Seder dinner service by Grindley Royal Cauldron. There are a total of 20 pieces included in this listing. These have a white background with black ink.
Around the inside of each saucer is a Hebrew Quote from the Passover Haggadah and the Book of Exodus. The quote from the Haggadah is "We were slaves to Pharaoh in the land of Egypt". The quote from Exodus is "And you should tell your son that day". In the center is a menorah, a crown and a small magen david (Star of David). The edges of the saucers and cups are decorated with grapes, pomegranates, and leaves.
The saucers are marked on the back "GRINDLEY MADE IN ENGLAND ROYAL CAULDON Passover DESIGNED FOR SIRETT REG. No. 889309". The cups are marked "Passover DESIGNED FOR SIRETT REG. No. 889309". According to the UK National Archives this Design Number was register in 1958. Included in the photos is a scan of the original design registration application.
Except for one cup, these are all in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or crazing. They have been well cared for by their previous owner(s). There is one cup that has a small chip on the bottom rim, but it looks like it happened during the manufacturing process because the chip is covered in glaze.
The saucers measure 5 3/4" across. The cups measure 3 7/16" across not including the handle and 2 15/16" tall.
