1850's Original MATHEW BRADY Double Sided AMBROTYPE Antique Photo / UNIDENTIFIED
THIS IS AN ORIGINAL sixth plate double-sided AMBROTYPE PHOTO, NOT A REPRODUCTION!!
The ambrotype is by Matthew Brady whose stamp is on the brass mat, at lower right corner. Stamp reads: CUTTING'S PATENT / BRADY / JULY 4 & 11 1854.
An remarkably clear image, with excellent focus and contrast.
I have not attempted to identify the sitter, but he is certainly a distinguished looking and very handsome young gentleman, worthy of further research.
This 1/6th-plate (2 3/4" x 3 1/4") image is displayed in its original 3 1/4" x 3 3/4" frame.
Sold just as-found, with no cracks, hairlines, touch-ups or repairs. Image has not been removed from the frame.
Guaranteed to be original and antique, and not a reproduction!
