This is a very rare, antique, Pende Tribal People, ancestor face, tribal talisman pendant which was hand carved and which was collected from the Congo, Africa and which is strung on a necklace decorated with antique European trade beads.These amulets known as Ikhoko are made of bone, wood or seed pods and acted as a talisman for the initiate to reinforce societal morals and values. These are only worn and used by men of the tribe.This very fine very rare Pende pendant has two perforation holes drilled completely through to the back on each side of the head right above the carved lateral forehead line.
