white
“mutton fat”
jade
.
Mutton
-
fat jade
should be glossy, translucent white nephrite and
is the best quality of Hetian-White-Nephrite.
Each bead measures 12.7mm (.5 inch) and all are
symmetrical and uniform. Some have a grey hue, some an ivory hue. It has not been easy to capture their essence in photos. It is a most impressive set.
I purchased them at a very reputable Hollywood Rd antiques shoppe in Hong Kong whose owner estimated an age of approx. 150 years. I lived in HK for many years and was going to have them crafted into a piece for my own personal use, but lost energy for that and know that someone else will enjoy.
Please note that I am not a jade expert. I have tried to examine each one carefully and would be happy to help answer any questions to the best of my ability.
Thank you for looking and best of luck!
