This is an antique Tuareg talisman box shaped pendant called a Tcherot which is strung on the original yarn necklace which is rare. This Tuareg antique amulet is decorated with incised geometrical designs on the front and has an elaborate makers mark on back. This large amulet measures 4.78 inches long by 4.28 inches wide. Great condition with some scratches and slight wear. These amulets are often filled with papers bearing Koranic inscriptions and texts or magical letters for protection of the wearer. This Tuareg Tcherot is very collectible and would be perfect for adding to your African jewelry collection.
