    This is an Austrian silver Maria Theresa dollar or Thaler, 4cm in diameter, which has been customised in Ethiopia with a loop soldered to the top for use as a pendant, giving a height of 4.8cm. Unusually, this one has a Coptic cross, H 3cm x W 3cm, soldered on to the Maria Theresa side, giving a weight of 33g. Owing to the scarcity of silver in Ethiopia.
