useful product for
Seed Drill Calibration
Every farmer using a drill and does not have a -00 seed counter needs this scale.
Hand-held scale gives exact pounds per acre seed application rate for air seeders and all conventional grain drills. Chart on canister gives row spacing and travel distance. Seed sample collection bag included. The chart on your drill is just a starting point. Due to seed texture and varied seed size, drill charts are unreliable. The price of the seeder meter can be saved in one round.
Grain producers need to know the exact seeding rate to save expensive seed. The Seeder Meter includes a chart with spacing and travel distance, a sample collection bag and instructions.
This scale is extremely sensitive and has a range from 0 to 250 pounds.
CAN ALSO BE USED TO DETERMINE IN ROW FERTILIZER.
Simple to use:
1.
Find your row spacing on chart.
2.
Measure travel distance and attach collection bag to air seeder tube or catch seed in a disposable cup from drill outlet. For grass seed, you may increase travel distance 10 times and divide pounds by 10.
3.
Drive travel distance with seeder engaged.
4.
Empty sample into scale and (
IMPORTANT
) level the seed in the canister.
5.
Support scale by ring and slide weight box on scale beam until level bubble is centered.
6. Read pounds per acre above center of weight.
Scale determines 0 to 250 pounds per acre of exact seed application.
From No-Till Farmer: "
High-quality, and often expensive, seed can be planted at lower populations if you have the correct equipment for the task. A well-maintained and calibrated drill can improve your stands and increase yields while lowering your seed costs.
The seeding chart on your grain drill is a good start to determine seeding rate but may be significantly off target due to variations in seed size within species as well as wear and tear of the drill. So it makes sense to check the seeding rate. You can unhook some seed tubes and tie the small bag provided to them and run the distance listed on the scale, with your drill."
Berckes Manufacturing
also sells two other products: the Grain Test Weight Scale and Fertilizer Density Scale. Both listed on ebay.
