    Description

TINTED BRITISH 1/2 PLATE AMBROTYPE - GENTLEMAN & BOOKS IN FULL PUSH BUTTON CASE -
You are considering what I believe to be a half plate British ambrotype of a gentleman seated next to a hand tinted table covered in numerous books. The style of case pillow and the man's fashions suggest he was an Englishman. Who was he...an author, a book salesman, a publisher or simply a man who had plenty of time to pick up and read the various publications in the studio while the photographer was preparing this plate? We may never know... But what we do know is, his portrait resides in a metal hinged push-button leather case with a solid maroon pillow and the image is very sharp in focus. Good luck to my winning bidder.
    CONDITION
: Please view my detailed photos for the actual condition of this cased image and as part of my description. The half plate clear glass ambrotype has very good contrast, tonal range, sharpness and hand tinting applied to the tablecloth on the table. The case functions properly and the solid maroon pillow is in fine antique condition, however, the exterior of this push-button case is rather tattered and worn. The case does continue to provide protection to the ambrotype. I will carefully ship these items to the winning bidder by way of Priority Mail.
