Antique Wooden Dumbells

An antique set of Narragansett Machine Company dumbbells, circa 1890s. The turned wood weights feature fine carved detailing with rings on the ends. Each weight marked 1 lb on applied decal (but actually weigh 1 lb, 1.1 oz).
Each dumbbell measures 10 inches long by 3 inches in diameter. The pair is in good vintage condition with minimal wear from use - no chips, cracks, or repairs, just some scuffs and minor scratches (see photos). Each dumb bell retains its' decal and though not perfect, they are in better than typically found condition.
The Narragansett Machine Company of Rhode Island dates back to about 1882, initially manufacturing woodworking & metalworking lathes then switching to selling fitness equipment by the turn of the century. The Narragansett Machine Co. even had a booth at the 1893 World’s Fair in Chicago showing off their gymnastic equipment as well as some bizarre strength measuring tools.
