  • Condition: Just recently (June 2021) this carb would start fine, and run great at high and middle speed, but would not idle. Turns-out the idle mixture needle was screwed-in too tight the tip was broken-off inside the upper body. I removed the plug and drilled two small holes to try and push the tip out of the orifice, but was not successful.

    (For Parts) OMC BRP Johnson Evinrude 1969-1975 6 HP 2 Stroke Carb Carburetor.
    Note that the brown crud in photos is just dried residue, not rust.
    Just recently (June 2021) this carb would start fine, and run great at high and middle speed, but would not idle.  So, it should be relatively clean on the inside.
    Turns-out the idle mixture needle was screwed-in too tight the tip was broken-off inside the upper body.  I removed the plug and drilled two small holes to try and push the tip out of the orifice, but was not successful. You maybe able to drill it out and seal the holes with epoxy.  Still, plenty of good parts here (except upper body and idle needle).
